Judo began in Okinawa Island that is located in Japan. Buddhist monks were taught strength training exercises as ordered by the emperor. They wore pure white uniforms that symbolize a pure state of mind and it indicates the lowest rank in this sport. Mastering the art of wearing the correct judo suit is as much an art as judo itself. So how do we select a good judo uniform?
First, we have to select a judo uniform that matches the type of martial art that we are studying. We can even ask our sensei to show us the correct uniform to buy because we have to make sure that we buy the right kind. judo uniforms are designed to accommodate all the moves that we will be doing. For example, judo gi uniforms are intended to be light, tight-fitted so we can do grappling and throwing techniques.
The self-control that you learn in martial arts is invaluable throughout your life in the moves you learn, build and grow upon. It is a skill of repetition that is carried on in discipline for other mediums such as school and other sports and creative endeavors. The exercise is great for kids as they are active and it teaches them respect for elders who are training them.
We also have to choose a size that fits us well. They do not come in standard sizes like the ones that we find in clothes shops or boutiques. To wear judo pants, we have to pull the drawstrings or adjust the fasteners. The belt is not meant to secure the pants so we must find a pair that fits us well. We can perform some kicks and techniques to make sure that it is well-fitted.
The judo top should be loose enough to allow us to move around freely. The belt will secure it in place. For women, we can wear a white shirt underneath to make sure that we will not be showing anything unnecessary while doing our judo moves. The belt should be wrapped around the top twice and tied together in a knot. These are the basic components of a judo uniform. The different colors are indications of our level in judo.
